About the project

After the impacts of COVID 19, 2021 brings a time for Lydney to recover, and continue taking Lydney Forward.

The town centre remains the heart of our community and economic life.

Lydney Town Council is considering how to best support its recovery and secure a better future.

We are asking you to help by highlighting your issues and your ideas for a better town centre.

What you told us in 2016

In 2016 more than a hundred local people contributed to a community survey of the town centre. You were impressed with:

  • The range of independent shops and supermarkets
  • Friendly traders and local people
  • Street cleanliness
  • Flower displays
  • The park

But you weren’t impressed with:

  • The choice of shops, places to eat and drink
  • The number of charity shops, take-aways and hairdressers
  • Too much traffic and narrow pavements
  • A tired environment

Since then a lot is being delivered:

  • More than £2m regeneration funds secured for Lydney Harbour
  • £1m cycling connection between Lydney town centre and harbour
  • Plans for £ multi-million regeneration of Pine End Works submitted
  • Lidl Supermarkets set to bring new shopping choice to the High Street
